WHERE IS A GLIMPSE WITHIN ULTRASOUND STUDIO LOCATED?

Our address is 208 5th St. Suite 102, Ames, IA 50010. The studio is located in downtown Ames on the first floor of the McClanahan Studio. When you walk in the building, take the first hallway on the right, go through the glass doors and it will lead you right to the studio!

DOES THIS TAKE THE PLACE OF MY ULTRASOUNDS AT MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE?

NO. Women looking to have an elective ultrasound MUST be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and have already had a medical diagnostic ultrasound. The ultrasounds done here are for elective and entertainment purposes only. You will have to fill out a waiver and provide your doctor's information at the time of booking.

CAN I BE ACCOMPANIED?

Absolutely! We believe you should enjoy these wonderful memories with your loved ones. Our ultrasound room can hold up to 3 additonal guests to relax and enjoy the experience with you! If bringing small children we kindly ask they have an accompanied adult.

WHAT IF I CAN'T SEE THE BABY?

Sometimes the babies are shy and do not allow for very good photos. This can all depend on fluid level, baby position, or weight. We will do our best to get a clear image. But if by chance we cannot get one- with the gender glimpse package and the platinum chubby cheeks glimpse package, you will receive a complimentary visit within 2 weeks to try again. Please see our terms, agreements, and conditions,

DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT??

Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services. Same day services sometimes available. Call to schedule same-day appointments or schedule in advance by booking online.

ARE YOU ABLE TO TELL THE SEX OF THE BABY?

Yes, in most cases we can provide an indication of the sex of the baby. We can’t however guarantee that the baby will cooperate during your session. Certain factors such as body tissue content, developmental stage and fetal position all affect the ability to determine sex.

IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO GET THE BEST ULTRASOUND IMAGES?

Yes, there is! Seeing your baby in the detail that A Glimpse Within offers will be one of the most remarkable experiences in your pregnancy journey. To help facilitate acquiring the best images of your baby, we ask that you make sure to book your 3D appointments between the weeks of 28-32 weeks. After 32 weeks it is still possible to get beautiful 3D pictures, however, it is not guaranteed. Regardless whether you booked a 2D or 3D appointment, we ask that at least 5 days prior to your ultrasound, that you drink 48-64 ounces of water daily. This simple task plays a very important role in determining the quality of the pictures you will receive. Drinking water improves the quality and clarity of the fluid surrounding your baby and gives us a “window” with which to see your baby. When mom is well hydrated, the “window” is clearer. Important to note, water is the best option, not soda or other fluids as it is the water clarity of the fluid surrounding your baby that gives us the most beautiful images. However, you do not need a full bladder for our scans, in fact, we ask you to empty your bladder prior to your scan. About 30 minutes before your scan, we ask that you drink a small amount of fruit juice to help facilitate your baby’s movement.

DOES A GLIMPSE WITHIN 3D/4D ULTRASOUND ACCEPT INSURANCE?

No. Insurance does not cover the costs of our ultrasounds. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your doctor ordered ultrasound, you will need to pay the cost of this ultrasound as an out-of-pocket expense.  We currently accept cash and square credit card payments.

IS IT SAFE? ARE THERE ANY RISKS TO ME OR MY BABY?

Extensive studies conducted over 35 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. In 3D/4D scanning, exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D ultrasound will be like a conventional scan in terms of sound exposure.
